Is my menopause treatment covered by my health insurance?

Explanation of how medication costs are reimbursed through your health insurer.

Your monthly subscription of €59.99 is for the programme: medical guidance, menopause consultants and content. That amount does not cover the medication.

How does it work with the medication?

We submit the cost of your medication to your health insurer. What happens next depends on your insurance:

  • You're insured: your health insurer reimburses the medication.

  • It comes out of your deductible: your health insurer deducts the cost from your deductible and claims that amount back from you.

  • You're not insured: your health insurer claims the amount back from you.

So you never pay for the medication to Goodweigh. If anything is owed, you'll receive the invoice from your health insurer.

Why can't you tell me this in advance?

The doctor only determines which medication you'll receive after the assessment. This varies a lot per person, and not every medication is reimbursed in the same way.

What can I do myself?

Check with your health insurer in advance:

  • whether hormone medication (such as estradiol and progesterone) is included in your plan

  • how much of your deductible you've already used this year

Am I paying twice?

No. Your subscription with Goodweigh is for the programme. An invoice from your health insurer is for your medication. These are two separate things.
